    Unhappy

Ever since I got my car lowered I have been having a few problems. I have KYB adjustables with Ground control coilovers, some issues are...

    1) The front right hand corner of my car "passenger side" will not go down at all when I press on the car, the other sides push down. He did not remove the dust covers on the fronts, could this be the problem?

    2) Yesterday I counted the threads and set both the back end to 18, drove the car around the block and the car looks uneven, the one corner looks higher, I was wondering if the springs are switched around? "front/back"

    3) How can you tell which springs gos in the front or the back? I bought them used, Im starting to think he put one of the front springs in the back and vise versa.

I really need some help, thanks alot

The original specs for the honda civic has to be with + or - 5% of the blueprints. Of course 5% you can't really tell if you are at the stock height due to the large amount of travel in the shocks. But when you lower the car the tolerances start to make a difference. I notice the same thing on my coilovers but you juts have to keep adjusting it until its a uniform height. Thats what is so good about the coilover setup. You can adjust each corner seperately. Use a ruler in each corner and pick the ride height you want then you have to keep adjust them till they all balance out. Good luck it can be quite time consuming...

So JohnnyM, are you saying it does not matter if they are opposite threads fron left to right? For example....I have the back 2 set on 16 "meaning 16 nitches up". Do you think that I should put one at 16 and the other at say 12? I thought the coils may have been switched around "like the fronts are on the rears?" So is it normal to have different threads on each coilover?

Yes since all the coils are supposed to be the same. The threads can be different without adversly effect the ride characteristics. Now if the threads were out by 6 or 7 threads I would be worried but mine are out by 2 or 3. Try it out anyways...

If the springs are in the correct position I think Im going to take Johns advice. If I put the one side about 4 lower it will probably be even.

Now what about the right front corner not going down? If you push on it its like a rock! Should we have removed the dust covers from the shocks?

the dust covers are pretty flimsy plastic and I dont think they'd hold the car up like that. they'd just crush (I think). is the tire hitting the wheel well or anything? is the control arm in properly? you gotta take a look in there and see if anything's hung up on anything.

Yes you should remove the dustcovers because they get jammed in there. I removed them on mine and have had no problems...

    Cool

Good news is Joel said he will look at it this week, he thinks its the covers to. Marked the covers are actually steel and rubber. They held my back springs up till we cut them shorter. Now lets hope I make it to his shop before something breaks :O

damn, shows what I know frown never listen to me again!!!! smile

my springs were cut on my car when I redid them, so I didnt have any experience w/ the dust covers. I thought they were just flimsy pieces of plastic. no idea where that came from smile
